Harvey Emory Bastin, Jr., 86, Franklin passed away at 2:30 p.m. on Friday, May 13, 2011 at Christina House in Franklin.

On Sunday, December 14, 1924 he was born in Morgan County to the late Harvey Emory and Gerty (Holler) Bastin.

He married Mary Lou (Fletcher) Bastin on September 21, 1943 and she survives.

Harvey was a graduate of Paragon High School and received his Master's degree from Indiana University. He was a teacher, principal, assistant superintendent and in educational sales. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Martinsville, American Legion Post #230 and the American Legion Post #1257.

Other survivors include his sons, Duane Bastin of Mooresville, Randy Bastin of Salem, Mark Bastin of Yuma, Arizona and Chip Bastin of Indianapolis; foster son, Jim Yocum of Briny Breezes, Florida; brother Hubert Bastin of Franklin; 13 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren.

He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Gib Bastin and Jim Bastin; three sisters, Ina May Roark, Bonnie Baker and Ruby Carter Reed.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 17, 2011 at Costin Funeral Chapel with Rev. Kevin Able officiating.

Family and friends will visit on Monday. May 16, 2011 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and one hour prior to the funeral service.

Burial will be at Nebo Memorial Park with a military service at the graveside.
