Ashley Nikole Charnesky, 18, of Washington, Ill., formerly of Nanty Glo, died January 23, 2005, in Illinois as a result of a severe asthma attack. Born May 22, 1986, in Johnstown, she was the daughter of James R. Charnesky and Terry (Edwards) Franklin. She is survived by her father, Washington, Ill.; mother, Greenfield, Mass.; stepmother, Sara Charnesky of Washington, Ill.; paternal grandparents, James and Betty Charnesky of Nanty Glo; paternal great-grandfather, Edward Bachota of Twin Rocks; maternal grandparents, Magda Edwards of Nanty Glo and Ronald Edwards of Johnstown; step-sister, Beth Stoecker, and husband, Doug; step-brother, Brian Ogier; half-brother, Ephraim Franklin; and half-sisters, Danielle and Emily Franklin. Also surviving are several aunts, uncles and cousins, and special friend, Kenneth Davis. Friends were received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., Friday, January 28, at the Askew-Houser Funeral Homes Inc., Nanty Glo, where Parastas were sung at 8 p.m., Friday evening. There was a brief service at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, January 29, at the funeral home, followed by Divine Liturgy at Holy Ascension Ukrainian Orthodox Church, Nanty Glo, the Very Rev. George Hnatko, celebrant. Committal was at the church cemetery.
