Obituary:

Hazel E. Adams, 80, a resident of the Grinnell community, died Monday afternoon, Jan. 17, at the Happy Hour Nursing Home, following an extended illness.

The daughter of David W. and Lugenia Nebergall Whitaker, she was born March 10, 1891, at Killduff. She was married to Burdette Adams on Nov. 22, 1916. Mr. Adams preceded her in death Oct. 19, 1041.

She attended school in the Oak Grove community and Cedar Falls Teachers College. Later, she taught school in Washington Township.

Mrs. Adams is survived by her brother Rolla Whitaker; two sisters, Nellie Whitaker and Verna Whitaker, all of Grinnell; and several nieces and nephews. Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Bert and Lee; and one sister, Mrs. Bessie Donai.

Funeral services for Mrs. Adams were held at 1:30 p.m. today (Thursday) at the James-Schalinske Funeral Home. The Rev. Tom Good, pastor of the Oak Grove Friends Church, officiated, and burial was in Hazelwood Cemetery.

Organist was Kathleen Heffner, and pallbearers were Harold Whitaker, Virgil Jones, Lavern Morrison, Tom Lowry, Don Nebergall and Kenneth Palmer.
