Marie was born in 1908, in a stone house built by her grandfather on the family farm near Blaine, Kansas, the second of eleven children to John and Mary Moran.
Marie attended rural schools and graduated from St. Columbkille's Catholic School in Blaine as Salutatorian.
Marie married William "Bill" A. McCormick on January 30, 1929 and moved to the McCormick family farm. In 1948, they sold the farm and moved to Albuquerque. They were married for 52 years and Bill preceded her in death in 1981.
Marie worked as a nurse's aide, then attended business college where she took accounting and secretarial courses. He worked for several businesses in Albuquerque until her retirement in 1973. Marie also was a member of the Theresian's Christian Women group and Catholic Daughters of the Americas, Court Santa Maria.
Marie was a very active person and refused to let health issues get her down. She enjoyed walking and in later years exercising at the rehabilitation center. She also enjoyed luncheons with friends and playing cards and dominos with family and friends. Marie was an avid reader. Marie said the secret to her longevity was healthy food, exercise and not worrying about things she could not change.
