LEWISTOWN - Harvey F. Karschner, 82, of Lewistown, died at 8:43 p.m. Friday, Jan. 18, 2013, at Golden Living Center-William Penn.Born on April 8, 1925, in Lewistown, he was the son of the late Clarence and Kathryn (Kreider) Karschner.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by: his wife, M. June (Pecht) Karschner, on Jan. 22, 2005; six brothers; and two sisters.He is survived by: children, Daunis Karschner, of Lewistown, and Stephen D. Karschner and wife, Oxana, of Dubois; siblings, Lorna Smith and husband, Dick, of Mount Union, Sally Anderson, of Mapleton, and Norman Karschner and wife, Margaret, of Lewistown; and one grandson, Christian Karschner and wife, Traci, of ButlerHarvey served in the U.S. Navy, worked at American Viscose, retired from New Holland and attended Centre Union Church.He was a wonderful Christian man who always enjoyed helping others.A memorial service will be held at 6 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 24, at Centre Union Church, with the Rev. Kurtis Swisher officiating.Interment with VFW Post 7011 honors will be private.Arrangements are under the care of Hoenstine Funeral Home, Inc., 75 Logan St., Lewistown.
