Rufus P. Doggett

Rufus P. Doggett, age 75 of Warren, died Saturday, May 26 at the Bradley County Memorial Hospital. He was a son of Thomas A. and Alpha Foster Doggett, and was born in Bradley County, April 27, 1909.

Mr. Doggett was a retired flooring grader for the Bradley Sawmill, a deacon of Willoughby Free Will Baptist Church for thirty-six years, a Mason of Warren Lodge #33 and Order of the Eastern Star #3.

Survivors include his wife, Laurene Gardner Doggett; a daughter, Mrs. Virginia Smith of Warren; two sisters, Mrs. Leola Adair and Mrs. Geneva Pope, both of Warren; two grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

The funeral service was held 4 p.m. Sunday, May 27, at Frazer's Chapel of the Chimes with Rev. Ronnie Blanks (?) officiating. Organist was Mrs. Janice Sullivan and soloist was Mrs. Sue Doggett.

Burial was in Willoughby Cemetery by Frazer's Funeral Home.

Pallbearers were Oliver Rice, James Gardner, Ernest Gardner, James Ederington, Wayne Ederington, and Thomas Peek.

Honorary pallbearers were Douglas Andrews, Luther Hayes, Edwin Hamaker, Lloyd Williams, Andre Hayes, Dr. Kerry Pennington, Rev. Stanton White, and Sykes Harris, Sr.
