Anthony C. "Tony" Hastings, 47, of 3310 Mosier Road died at 11:32 a.m. Tuesday, April 15, 2003, at Freeman West Hospital in Joplin. He had been in his usual health and death was unexpected.
He was born on June 15, 1955, in Parsons to Theodore C. "Ted" and Jean M. (Farrell) Hastings.
He grew up in Parsons and attended St. Mary's Catholic Elementary School and Parsons High School. In his senior year, he attended Labette County High School in Altamont and graduated from there in 1973.
He was a carpenter and had worked construction his entire adult life.
He married Deborah K. Robinson on April 18, 1981, in Parsons. She survives of the home.
He was a member of the Tri-State Faith Center in Parsons. He was a former member of Gideon's International. He enjoyed spending time at the church and with his family. He especially enjoyed the children at the church. He also enjoyed fishing, hunting and doing charity work.
Additional survivors include one son, Brandon J. Hastings of the home; one daughter, Kristi Ann Hastings of the home; his parents, Ted and Jean Hastings of Jefferson City, Mo.; five brothers, Fred Hastings and his companion, Janet Burris, of Parsons, Bill Hastings and his wife, Jane, of Parsons, Ed Hastings of Altamont, Don Hastings and his wife, Nikki, of Erie, and Richard Hastings of Jefferson City; and three sisters; Patti Greenland and her husband, Danny, of Dewey, Okla. , and Melissa McCoskey and her husband, Todd, of Altamont.
He was preceded in death by an infant sister.
The service will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the Tri-State Faith Center in Parsons with the Revs. Don Tallman and Alyce Tallman officiating. Burial will be in Springhill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. today at the Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home.
