July 3, 1942 – January 22, 2013

Tarzan passed away at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center on Tuesday, January 22nd. James was born in Detroit, Michigan, but raised in Hawkins County, Tennessee. He spent the last 15 years living in Mount Carmel, Tennessee. James was one of three children born to the late Rich and Mary Christian. He loved his cats Prissy and Patches, loved laughing, and being with his family. James touched the lives of many people with his smile and caring love.

Preceding him in death were his beloved wife of 49 years, Christena Christian, brother, Frankie Christian and sister, Bonnie Kilgore.

James will be forever remembered by his beloved son, Marcus J. Christian; daughter, Penny Lynn Nunley and son-in-law, Danny Nunley; daughter-in-law, Lisa A. Christian; treasured grandchildren, Matthew J. Christian and Justin Wayne Nunley; along with countless other friends and family who were blessed to know him.

The family will receive friends on Friday, from 2-3:00 pm at Hamlett-Dobson, Kingsport. Funeral services will follow at 3:00 pm with Evangelist Pat Hammond officiating.

Burial will follow the funeral service at Oak Hill Memorial Park.
