Leo was one of nine children born to Bohemian immigrants Rudolf and Leopoldine (TEIML) Hotovy. Served in the occupation of Japan after WWII ended. He died of lung cancer at the age of 59 at the Allen Park Veteran's Hospital. He married Anna Louise WILLMAN 27 June, 1946 and they had three children, Leo Ernest (1947-1947), Diana Lynn and Mark Leo. He operated Leo's Jewelry in Sturgis, Michigan for many years and also raised standardbred trotting horses for the track.
