BREWER - Clara Belle Beatham, 94, widow of Leroy Beatham, died Aug. 29, 1979, at a Brewer nursing home. She was born in Winterport Jan. 9, 1885, the daughter of Simeon and Louise (Tibbetts) Downs. She had resided in Brewer most of her life. She was a member and honorary deaconess of the Second Congregationalist Church of Brewer. She was past president of Brewer Community Council for many years. She was a former member of the VFW Auxiliary Post 4917 of Brewer. She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Roland (Patricia) Fournier of Brewer; two sons, Roland of Brewer and Everett of Orrington; 13 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral services will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at Brookings-Smith Clark Chapel, 55 South Main St., Brewer. Interment will be in Oak Hill Cemetery, Brewer. Friends may call Clark Chapel, Brewer, Thursday, 2 to 4 and 7 to 9. Those who wish may contribute in her memory to the Second Congregationalist Organ Fun, 607 South Main St., Brewer.
