Thomas A. Sabell, 89, of Sheboygan Falls and formerly of Wausaukee & Port Washington, died Wednesday afternoon, January 23, 2013 at Rocky Knoll Health Care Facility, Plymouth. He was born October 8, 1923 in Port Washington, son of Mike & Edna (Aldendorf) Sabell. Thomas attended school in Port Washington. He was a proud veteran of the Merchant Marines. He later enlisted in the Army/Air Corp.,serving as a radio operator during World War II. He had the privilege of being on the "Honor Flight" to Washington DC in 2011. On March 30, 1946 he married Armella Westphalen at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Port Washington. He was employed at Wisconsin Power & Light, for 37 years, retiring in 1983. After retirement Thomas & Armella moved to Wausaukee, spending 24 wonderful years there before moving to Sheboygan Falls. Thomas was a former member of the Port Washington VFW and a volunteer driver for the Wausaukee Ambulance Service. He enjoyed spending time outdoors with all his grandchildren. He also enjoyed listening to the radio while working in his woodworking shop. Thomas was a proud grandfather & wonderful role model to his grandchildren. Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Armella, Sheboygan Falls, daughter, Linda Clausing, Belgium, grandchildren: Michelle Clausing, Sheboygan, Melanie Clausing, Mequon, great grandchildren: Thomas Ellner, Shelton Ellner, Dustin Clausing and great-great grandchild, Maiyhana Soto. He is further survived by in-laws, Romilda Heinen, Kiel, Evelyn Zeman, Racine, Harriet (Karl) Kappelman, Two Rivers, Wilbur (Ellie) Westphalen, Plymouth, Virginia (Donald) Dickrell, Denmark, special cousins, Betty & Gladys, numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Mike Sabell, mother & step-father, Edna & (Eddie) Faye and in-laws; Reuben Heinen, Melvin Zeman & Allen (Lorraine) Westphalen. Funeral services for Thomas will be held at 3:00 pm, Saturday, January 26, 2013 at Meiselwitz-Vollstedt Funeral Home, 815 6th St., Kiel with Rev. DuWayne Hanke officiating. Burial will take place in Eaton Cemetery. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday from 1:00 pm until the time of service.
