Age 74, of Elmira, NY, passed away peacefully Saturday, March 7, 2009, at St. Joseph's Hospital in Elmira. Mary was born on April 9, 1934 in Elmira to the late Arthur and Ruth (VanDemark) Cook. Mary retired from C&K Laundry in Elmira after many years of service. Survivors include her husband of 56 lovely years, Gerald Compton; [surviving family member names omitted due to privacy.~SKDB 24Jan13]. Mary was predeceased by her brother, Kenneth; sister, Betty Bowman; and grandson, Michael Compton. Family and friends are invited to call Tuesday, March 10, 2009, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. at the James D. Barrett Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 8 p.m. with Deacon George Welch officiating. Interment will take place in Woodlawn Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
