Camden, Aug. 1 - Bracy Haynie, aged 49, well-known insurance man, died in a Camden hospital Monday night after a sudden heart attack. He suffered a stroke Monday afternoon.
Haynie was associated with Mayor Don Harrell in the insurance firm of Harrell and Haynie. He is past president of the Camden Lions Club and served as County chairman of the polio campaign for 1950. He was active in all civic business and religious affairs.
He was a graduate of the University of Arkansas and received a law degree at Cumberland University at Lebanon, Tenn. He practiced law here for several years and served as Camden municipal judge several years ago.
Haynie was a quarterback for the Arkansas Razorbacks while at the University. A teammate of his was William Fulbright, now a United States senator.
Haynie was also a star baseball player. He earned letters at Henderson State Teachers College and the University of Arkansas. He was athletic coach at Camden in 1923-24 and played on one of the state's better semi-pro baseball teams, the Camden Gassers (?), in the early 1930's.
He is survived by his wife; a son; his parents, Judge and Mrs. G. R. Haynie; two sisters, Mrs. Joe Hamilton of Prescott; and Mrs. D. B. Brown of Beebe; and two brothers, O. R. Haynie of Wichita Falls, Tex., and Lawrence E. Haynie of Warren.
Services will be held by Rev. Jack Ruffin at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the First Presbyterian Church. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery.
