Mildred I. (Mrs. George A.) Mickelsen, 84, formerly of Northfield and Faribault, died Tuesday, March 12, 2002 at Grand Meadow Health Care Center, Grand Meadow. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Boldt Funeral Home, Faribault with the Rev. Forrest Miller, officiating. A spring burial will be at the Oaklawn Cemetery, Northfield. Visitation is scheduled for one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Mildred I., daughter of Marcus and Ida (Lillesve) Bjerva was born on Aut.? 24, 1917 in Goodhue County. She married George A. Mickelsen on Oct. 22, 1941 and he preceded her in death on Feb. 3, 1979. They lived their married life in Northfield and she moved to Faribault in 1981. In 2001 she moved to Grand Meadow. She is survived by one son, Ross (and Jan) Mickelsen of Austin; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two step-children, Lois (and Ross) Johnson of Prairie Village, Kan. and Paul Mickelsen of Shawnee Mission, Kan.; step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; one step-son, George; two brothers, Harland and Myron Bjerva; and one sister Myrtle Blessn.
