Ruth H. Gaertner, 91, of New Prague and formerly of Northfield, died Sunday, Aug. 13, 2006, at home. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 21, 2006, at St. Peters Lutheran Church in Northfield, the Rev. Craig Ellingboe officiating. A private interment will take place in Oaklawn Cemetery in Northfield.

Gaertner was born Feb. 26, 1915, in Milwaukee, Wis., to Sorn and Hannah (Brandt) Christopher. She was raised in Milwaukee and attended public schools there, graduating from Riverside High School. She married Raymond W. Gaertner Sept. 18, 1937, in Milwaukee. She was a homemaker and worked as a school crossing guard in Milwaukee. They moved to Northfield in 1983. She was an active member of St. Peters Lutheran Church in Northfield.

Ruth is survived by her daughter, Christine M. Haack of New Prague; one sister, Margaret Koss of West Bend, Wis.; two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Funeral arrangements are with Bruzek Funeral Home of New Prague.
