August E. Walber, 71, of 219 Saratoga St., Chilton, died Thursday at Calumet Memorial Hospital in Chilton.

He was born Nov. 28, 1912 in Kiel, son of John and Frances Taubel Walber. He and Alyce Anhalt were married Sept. 10, 1938 at Kiel.

Mr. Walber was employed as a mechanic for Lulloff Co. in Kiel for 13 years, and later at Hingiss Implement co. in Chilton for 43 years. He retired in 1983.

He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Chilton and the Knights of Columbus.

He is survived by his wife; three sisters, Mrs. Sylvester (Bernice) Schwitzer, Mrs. Delores Bunge of Milwaukee; and Mrs. Joe (Della) Pearl of Kiel; and one brother, Eugene of Cedar Grove. A brother and sister preceded him in death.

The funeral Mass will be Monday at St. Mary Catholic Church. The Rev. Paul Brick, pastor, will be celebrant. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.
