Rev. George William Abrams, 85, of Gulfport, died Tuesday, March 30, 2004 in Gulfport. He was born in Reform, AL and was a resident of the Gulf Coast for over 27 years. Rev. Abrams was a Baptist Minister for over 62 years in Alabama, Arizona and Mississippi and retired as Minister at Sharon Baptist Church in Long Beach. He was a former Director of the International Seaman's Center in Gulfport.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth Ann Weimer Abrams; his parents, Bennie Lee and Mollie Johnson Abrams; a sister, Helen Folsom and a brother, B.L. Abrams, Jr.

Rev. Abrams is survived by a daughter Marianne Varnado and her husband Mager of Gulfport; a sister, Addalyne Watson of Tuscaloosa, AL; a granddaughter, Julie Varnado of Gulfport and 11 nieces and nephews.

Services will be held Friday, April 2, 2004 at 12 noon at the Downtown Gulfport Chapel of Bradford O'Keefe Funeral Homes, where friends may visit two hours prior to service time. Interment will follow at Floral Hills in Gulfport.
