He was born in Warren County and lived there all his life. He was a farmer, had worked for DICO in Des Moines and was a member of Fairview Christian Union Church, south of Indianola, Iowa.
Survivors include two sons, Murray and Kelly, both of Indianola; a daughter Susan Hommer of Indianola; a brother, Bert of Romona, CA; three sisters, Ruth Oxenreider, Jeanne King and Norma Goering, all of Indianola; and nine grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Dora A. Pettit, and his parents.
