AUGUSTA, Ga. - Willie Simeon Johnson, Jr., better known to some as "Pete" was born on March 8, 1955 to Delores Rogers Johnson and the late Willie Simeon Johnson, Sr. (Simp). Due to a massive heart attack, Pete expired on October 8, 2004. Surviving him is his mother, Delores Patricia Barnes; a daughter, Camula LaShawne Nesbit; a son-in-law, James Jeffrey Nesbit; six grandchildren; two sisters, Alicia Denise Johnson Gore, Linda Gail Johnson Covos; one brother, Clinton Bradford Barnes; one sister-in-law, Victoria Barnes; six nieces, three nephews, two great-nieces, two great nephews and a host of aunts, uncles and cousins. Pete was a grandson of the late Joe Cephus Johnson, Sr. and Helen Johnson, the late Inez Rogers Bush and great-grandson of Angeline Rogers and Lelar Bentley Fouch. Pete was also blood relations to the Ramsey-Johnson family and Washington family of Cummings Road, Augusta, Ga. An accomplished pianist from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to Augusta, Georgia and finally Atlanta, Georgia, Pete was a child protege on the keyboard. He was also an arranger and composer and the proprietor of Johnson Christian Entertainment. Completion of his first CD, "One Accord" was in 2002 and the second CD was ready for editing. Pete's life exemplified a humble yet celebratory man. He served his Master well the last years of his life only playing under the "anointing" of the Holy Spirit. "He fought a good fight, he finished his course, he kept the faith: henceforth there is laid up for him a crown of righteousness." II Timothy 4:7. Services are to be held at Denson Temple, 470 Whitehall Street, Atlanta, Ga. 30310 at 11 a.m. on Saturday, October 16, 2004.
