Ellen was born August 5, 1980, in Waterloo, Iowa. She was the daughter of Kenneth M. Cutts and Patricia S. Achey-Cutts.

She died Wednesday, January 26, 2005, in Cedar Falls, Iowa.

She graduated from Cedar Falls High School in 1998. Then she attended St. Olaf College for one year before transferring to Cornell College in Mt. Vernon for her last three years in college. She was an honor student all at three schools. She loved to go canoeing and fishing with her father. She was fluent in German and was an accomplished violinist and played in the All-State Orchestra for two years. She had been a volunteer Coordinator for the Ospery Project at Hartman Preserve Nature Center in the summer of 1993. She also loved to read and spend time with her cats and dogs.

Ellen is survived by her parents, Kenneth and Patricia of Cedar Falls, Iowa; maternal grandmother, Gladys Achey of Tipton, Iowa.

She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents Helen and Howard Cutts; maternal grandfather, Edward Achey.
