James "Roger" Braddy, 72, passed away after several months of illness at home with his wife Beverly Braddy at his side on Jan. 24, 2013.

He was born on Feb. 11, 1940, in Galveston, Texas to Maurice and Jenne Braddy.

Roger was preceded in death by his parents: Maurice and Jenne; brothers: Ronald "Stephan" Braddy, Maurice Braddy, and Jack Hunter.

He is survived by his loving wife of 27 years, Beverly A. Braddy; children: Alice Braddy and her husband James; Jon Cutshall and wife, Wiede; Cary Braddy and wife, Shannon; Stacey Smatresk and husband, Erik; and Samantha Markley and husband, Michael; three grandchildren, numerous family members, and friends.

He was a proud Veteran, having served in the U.S. Navy. He worked in numerous capacities including; Naval Investigative Officer (NCIS), and Photo Intelligence Officer, and rising through the enlisted ranks as a "Mustang" to Lieutenant. In Civilian life he worked at the Hoechst Celanese Clear Lake Plant, serving as a City Councilman for the City of Webster from 1987 to 1989. He had a passion for antique and fast cars, motorcycles, travel, genealogy, and gun collecting. He also loved to be with his family and his dogs, Bandit and Blackjack.

His interest in his family geneology led him in part to become a member of Find A Grave for the last 5 years. There he could track some of the details of his family lines. He made this statement in his bio there; "I live on the south side of Houston, Texas and immediately adjacent to Galveston County, TX. I have been doing genealogy research for over 30 years and routinely communicate with Braddy researchers throughout North America. I was born in Galveston, TX and grew up in Texas City and LaMarque, TX. I served in the U.S. Navy for 21 years and then returned to Houston area to live. Following retirement from the Navy, I worked for Celanese Chemical Company in Pasadena, Tx for 21 years. I finally retired in 2001 and dedicating a great deal of time to genealogy research; helping others whenever possible."

Pallbearers were: Guy Crouch, Jon Cutshall, Jerry Henderson, Michael Markley, Stanley Singer, Erik Smatresk, and John Webb. Honorary pallbearers are Alan Crosby, Clifford Robinson, Mary Frances Koban Singer, Jean Colwick Crouch and Rose Mary Otte Smith.

Visitation was held on January 28, 2013, at Crowder Funeral Home. A Funeral Mass was held on Tuesday, January 29, 2013, St Bernadette Catholic Church. Interment followed on Wednesday, January 30, 2013, at Restland Cemetery, Dallas, TX.
