Hardin was a graduate of Moss Point High School, Mississippi College and The University of Mississippi School of Law. Following a brief practice in the Southaven area, for the past thirty one years Hardin has served as an active member of the George-Greene County Bar Association. During his practice, he counseled in various capacities; as attorney for the cities of McLain and Leakesville; as Circuit Judge for the Eighteenth Judicial District (Jackson, George and Greene Counties); and most recently as Public Defender for Greene County. Additionally, Hardin maintained a vibrant private legal practice in Greene County and the surrounding area.
Hardin was a member of First Baptist Church, Leakesville, where he served as Sunday School teacher and Director, Training Union teacher and Deacon since 1975. He was also active in civic and community endeavors, as founder of the Christmas in the Toys for Children Program in the Greene County area, and as a member of the Mississippi Air Ambulance Board.
Survivors include his wife, Jean Hardin of Leakesville; his mother, Zula Hardin of Moss point; a daughter Elgen (Heath) Hillman of Hattiesburg; a son, Clif (Diana) Hardin of Madison; two granddaughters, Olivia and Maryn Hillman of Hattiesburg; a brother, Billy Hardin of Moss Point; along with many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and family and friends who love him and will miss him dearly.
He was preceded in death by his father Rev. Van Hardin of Lucedale and a brother, Don Hardin of Moss Point.
