Detective, Dies
Services for Metropolitan Detective Armon t. Castleman, 47 of 515 Southgate Ave. will be at 10 a.m. tomorrow at Cosmopolitan Funeral Home.
The Rev. Hobart Ford, pastor of Judson Memorial Baptist Church, and Carl Robinson will officiate. Burial will be in Woodlawn Memorial Park.
Castleman, a veteran of 17 years with the police department, died yesterday in General Hospital of cancer.
Police Chief Hubert O. Kemp described Castleman as a "conscientious and hard-working officer" and said his death is "a severe loss to the police department."
A native of Davidson County, Castleman had lived in Nashville all his life and was a graduate of Howard High School.
In 1947, he married Marie Ervin of Nashville. She survives.
Castleman was the son of William H. Castleman and the late Frances Boner Castleman.
He served with the U.S. Navy during World War II.
Other survivors are three daughters, Jud, Vicki and Sandi; three brothers, Charles T., Ernest W. and James R. Castleman, all of Nashville; and three sisters, Mrs. Maxie Eaves Mrs. Ola Howland and Mrs. Willie Sharpe, all of Nashville.
