Funeral service was at 3 p.m. on July 28, with the Rev. Sandy Sanderson officiating. Burial followed at Hopewell Cemetery in Stoneburg with arrangements under the direction of The White Family Funeral Home of Bowie.
Adkins was born on Nov. 10, 1925 in Stoneburg to Ott and Mary (Hogeland) Weatherford. She married Cecil Adkins on Sept. 20, 1944.
Phyl was a wonderful lady who loved people and family and always had a smile. She loved gardening and spending time with her many activities in life. She was active in the VFW Auxiliary, PTA, and Jim Bowie Riding Club for many years.
