He was a World War II veteran, having proudly served in the U.S. Navy for six years. He retired from Kaiser Aluminum in 1985 with 28 years of service.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 61 years, Genevieve Becnel Abadie; five children, Daniel Abadie, Susan Turcotte and husband Hines, Donald Abadie, Robert Abadie and wife Sarah, and Marie Abadie; seven grandchildren, Byron Abadie, Jenny Hebert, Cindy Thibodaux, Andre Abadie, Adam Abadie, Tessa Faucheux and Erica McAllister; 10 beautiful great-grandchildren; brother, Andre Abadie Jr.; and two sisters, Marie Peyton and Bernadette Roussel.
Preceded in death by his parents, Andre Abadie Sr. and Eloise Waguespack Abadie; four brothers, Daniel, Russel, Frank and Dudley Abadie; and two sisters, Eloise Abadie and Thelma Zeringue.
Visitation at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church, in Vacherie, on Thursday, Nov. 13, from 8:30 a.m. until Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. Entombment in the church mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a charity of your choice.
