Oweta Dagg


Oweta Dagg, resident of Via Christi Village died Monday, January. 28th, 2013. She was 89.

The funeral service will be held Friday, February 1st, 2013, 2:00 p.m. at the Trout Funeral Home Chapel with Gail Young officiating. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park under the direction of Trout Funeral Home.

Oweta Aline Dagg was born on Sept. 19, 1923 in Durant, OK, the daughter of Jesse Bert & Myrtle Minerva (Armentrout) Beal.

Oweta graduated from Ponca City High School in 1942. She married Homer E. (Gene) Dagg in Ponca City on December 27, 1944 where they established their home.

Oweta started her working career in banking and then worked for Ponca City Retail Credit Association and eventually in the Retail Credit Department for Conoco where she retired from.

Oweta enjoyed gardening, sewing, cross stitch (which she taught several grandchildren) and traveling with Gene throughout Hawaii. One of her greatest pleasures in life was spending time with and adoring her grandchildren. Oweta was also known for the gourmet meals she prepared and delivered to the family during Kaw Lake outings.

She is survived by 5 children; James (Karen) Dagg, of Tulsa, OK, Patty (Rolla) Weber of Springfield, OR, David (Ann) Dagg, Edmond, OK, Peggy (Greg) Link, Oklahoma City, Steve (Donnita) Dagg, Surprise, AZ.; Grandchildren, John Dagg and Beth Dagg, both of Tulsa, OK, John (Aimee) Morwood, Travis AFB, CA, Scott (Jennifer) Morwood, Halfway, OR, Kelli Morwood, Norman, OK, Lauren (Michael) Shelton, Norman, OK & Matt Dagg, Oklahoma City, and their mother, Dr. Kathy Dagg, Norman, OK, Cody (Lacey) Link, Edmond, OK, Jeremy (Hillary) Dagg, Edmond, OK, Kevin (Laurie) Stewart, Piedmont, OK & Brad (Ashleigh) Stewart, Dover, MA.; Great-Grandchildren, Kaitlyn & Ryan Morwood, Travis, AFB, CA, Ashton, Avrey, Tristan, and Ty Morwood, Halfway, OR, William Brooks Link, Edmond, OK, Alyssa & Hannah Stewart, Piedmont, OK & Avery and Hayden Stewart, Dover, MA., niece Mary Jane (Stan) Barraclough, their two sons, James & Charles, and sister-in-law, Frances Beal, Ponca City.

Her husband Gene, her parents & 3 brothers (Julian, Clyde, & Jesse) preceded her in death.

Casket bearers will be Cody Link, Matt Dagg, John Dagg, John Morwood, Scott Morwood, and Jeremy Dagg.

The family would like to thank the staff of Via Christi Village for the wonderful care and compassion given to Oweta the last four years.
