RAYMOND DOUGLAS ALMARODE 71, of 703 Braxton Road, Front Royal, VA died on Tuesday August 29, 1978 in Warren Memorial Hospital.
Funeral services were conducted Friday, September 1, 1978 at 11AM at Marlow Heights Baptist Church by the Rev. James Harmon. Burial followed in Shenandoah Memorial Park, Winchester, Frederick County, VA.
Raymond was born in Greenville, VA on June 3, 1907 to Lovie Pickrell Almarode of Hopewell, VA and the late Harry T. Almarode. He was a member of Marlow Heights Baptist Church and Unity Lodge 146. He had originally come to Front Royal from Hopewell, VA to work for American Viscose and was retired from FMC. His wife, Lois Pelter Almarode died in 1969.
Left to cherish his memory are his mother and his two sons, Raymond D. Almarode, Jr. and Richard J. Almarode both of Front Royal; his three daughters, Lorraine Bennett (James), Jean Bell (Robert) both of Front Royal, and Carol Kenney (James) of Strasburg, VA; two brothers Frazier Almarode of Hopewell and Hampton Almarode of Colonial Heights, VA; four sisters, Mrs. Emmett Frazier of Baltimore, Mrs. Frank Brockwell of Petersburg, Mrs. John Barnes and Mrs. Clarence Whitlock both of Hopewell, VA; 13 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were M.N. Tuck, Robert Leonard,Millard Williams, J. R. Bell, Bruce Bell, and Rex Shifflett.
Honorary Pallbearers were Joe McDaniel, Truen McDaniel, Thomas Kirby, George Nethers, Thomas Kerns, Frank Nesbitt, Stanley Golden, Jesse Smith, and Walter Bunch.
The family received friends on Thursday night, August 31, 1978 from 7 to 8 PM at Turner Funeral Home, who were in charge of arrangements.
