A funeral service for Harold Lane, 82 of Heath will be held Thursday, January 31, 2013 at 11am in the sanctuary of the Church of God of Licking County, 2181 Riggs Road NE with Pastor Anthony Bartlette officiating. Burial will be in Newark Memorial Gardens with military honors by the Licking County Veteran Alliance.

Mr. Lane died Monday, January 28, 2013 at the Selma Markowitz Care Center. He was born December 24, 1930 in Arlington, W.Va. to the late Ford Simon and Armeda Mae (Haymond) Lane.

Mr. Lane retired with 30 years service as a machine operator at Rockwell Manufacturing. He also drove school bus for the Newark City Schools for an additional 8 years. He was a member of the Church of God of Licking County, Local #1037.

He served in the U. S. Navy during the Korean Conflict. He enjoyed repairing and rebuilding small engines. He spent many hours gardening. He was well known for his poetry, music and artistic talent.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Dorothy Jean (Chapman) Lane, whom he married December 7, 1956; children, Brent (Sue) Lane of Newark, Mark (Patti) Lane of Newark, Brenda (Kevin) Borders of Newark, Joyce (Terry) Piatt of Heath; grandchildren, Brent Lane, Sarah Lane, Diedre Lane, Curtis Lane, Audrey Kimbrell, Patrick Lane, Korby Borders, Krista Shaffer, Kyle Borders, Carter Lane; seven great-grandchildren; brother, Burt Lane of Newark; sister-in-law, Barb Lane of Newark; several nieces and nephews; special friends, Pam Johnson, Trent and Vickie White; caregiver, John Miller.

The family would like to express special thanks to the Chestnut House and Hospice of Central Ohio for their excellent care of Mr. Lane and his family.

Calling hours will be observed Wednesday 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Church of God Licking County, 2181 Riggs Rd.
