Mary Anna Gertrude Helwig/Hulwig was b. 18 Oct 1832 in Hesse/Hessin, Germany to father Adam Congrad Helwig/Hulwig (also written Helwick), mother unknown, of Germany.
Sometime between 1845-1854, she met and married John (Johann) GEORGE Arend (Jr.); location unknown as yet; still researching. Since her husband arrived in New York in 1847, they could've been married there, or in Germany before arrival, Michigan where they settled, or points in-between. Since we've been unable to locate a certain 1850 US Census record for either, the marriage location/date remains uncertain.
John (Johann) George (known as George) Arend (Jr.) was b. 04 Feb 1827 in Hesse/Hessin, Germany to John (Johann) George Arend (Sr.) and Anna Maria Otto. According the US Passenger & Immigration Lists, the Arend family arrived in New York in 1847.
