Donna Mae Luella Boese, 81, Slayton, died Monday, Jan. 21, 2013, at Our House Hospice Home in Slayton.

A funeral service was Friday, Jan. 25, at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Lake Wilson. Burial was at St. John's Cemetery in rural Lake Wilson.

Donna Reese was born March 26, 1931, to Henry and Frieda Hinz Reese on the Reese homestead in Cameron Township, Murray County.

On March 12, 1950, Donna married Berle Boese at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Pipestone. Following their marriage they lived on the Boese family farm north of Lake Wilson. She worked at the Murray County Medical Center for 30 years, retiring in 1996. In 2004 they moved to Slayton. In November 2012 she moved to Our House Hospice Home in Slayton.

She was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Lake Wilson where she served as Sunday school teacher, sang in the church choir, and was active in the women's organization. She was also a member of the Murray County Hospital Auxiliary and the American Legion Auxiliary. She enjoyed her family, travel, dancing, sewing, cake decorating, bowling, reading and playing cards.

Donna is survived by her husband, Berle Boese, Slayton; three children, Karen van der Hagen, Olivia, Kerry (Debra) Boese, Lake Wilson, and Kraig (Brenda) Boese, Avoca; nine grandchildren, Tonya and Chad Grunewald, Jason and Katie van der Hagen, Jeremie and Anita van der Hagen, Logan Boese, Ellie Boese, Hannah Boese, Nichole Boese, Riley Boese, and Chase Reese; four sisters-in-law, Florence Reese, La Junta, Colo., Theola Reese, Cleveland, Ohio, Frances Reese, Colorado Springs, Colo., and Deborah Reese, Palmer Lake, Fla.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a son-in-law, David van der Hagen; a grandson, Jordan Boese; four brothers, Marvin, Elmer, Wilfred and Maynard Reese; and a sister-in-law, Betty Reese.
