Rita Jean Sphar, 89, of Ishpeming and Iron Mountain, passed away Saturday, January 26, 2013 at the Manor Care Nursing Center in Iron Mountain.
She was born November 21, 1923, in Chicago, Illinois a daughter of Maurice and Rose Ellen (Kenney) Crowe.
Rita was a veteran of the US Navy. She was a member of the Greenwood American Legion and the Negaunee Eagle's Lodge.
She is survived by a son, David; daughter, Janet Raymond, both of Iron Mountain; grandchildren, David Farrar of Oklahoma, Tammy Pennington of Texas, Angela Simr of Ohio, Donivan Spar of Iron Mountain and Jamie Oslund of Iron Mountain; sister, Virginia Hoppe of Ohio; and numerous great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 30, 2013 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Racine Funeral Chapel in Ishpeming. A funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. in the funeral home with Deacon Don Christy officiating. Entombment will take place in Northland Chapel Gardens Mausoleum.
