John Thomas (Jack) English, 85, of Bedford, passed away Monday, March 5, 2007 in the Bedford Memorial Hospital. He was born July 4, 1921 in Bedford County, a son of the late Joseph English and Hattie Divers English, although he lived with and was raised by Bennett Andrews. He was a retired employee of Norfolk-Southern and was a member of the Liberty Masonic Lodge # 95 and the Bedford Baptist Church. He also was a veteran of the U.S. Navy having served during World War II. He is survived by his wife, Shirley Stevens English; a son and daughter-in-law, Jimmy and Stella English, Bedford; a grandson, Jaimeson Bennett English and wife, Rhonda, Bedford; two great-grandsons, Jackson Riley English and Jonah Clayton English, both of Bedford; a sister, Ann Brown, Bedford. A funeral service will be conducted from the graveside at the Greenwood Cemetery on Thursday, March 8, 2007 at 1 p.m. by the Rev. Dr. David Henderson.
