James Thaddaeus Duffy the son of Marion and Golda (Conner) Duffy was born October 2, 1934 at Guide Rock, Nebraska. He departed this life on Wednesday, January 30, 2013 at the Norfolk Veterans Home in Norfolk, Nebraska at the age of 78 years.

Jim completed his education in the 8th grade then went on to work on the farm, eventually earning his G.E.D.

Jim was married to Nadine George In December 1957, just as he was going into the service. The couple lived in Edgar, NE from 1958 to 1967 where he held various jobs. Together they had four children, three boys and one girl. Jim also had one son from a second marriage to Marsha Allen.

Jim served in the Army for 18 months where he worked as a truck driver in El Paso, Texas. After serving his country, Jim farmed and drove truck. He worked for Transwood Trucking for more than 35 years.

Jim enjoyed hunting, working on vehicles and held a great passion for horses. Jim was a member of the Eagles, V.F.W. and the American Legion.

He was preceded in death by his parents, son Mike, brothers: Ron, Harold and Franklin "Bud" Duffy; and sisters Jean and Joan.

Survivors include his sons: Terry Duffy and wife Jennifer of Norfolk, NE; Dennis Duffy of Guide Rock, NE; and Jimmy Duffy of Guide Rock, NE; daughter Denise Shipman of Smith Center, KS; sister Shirley Nelson of Ripley, Mississippi; brothers Dallas Duffy of Guide Rock, NE: Don Duffy of Louisville, NE and Robert Duffy of Kearney, NE; grandchildren: Amy Duffy, Alex Duffy, Tyler Horning, Travis and Taylor Robb; other relatives and a host of friends. Jim will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who knew and loved him.

Funeral services will be held this Saturday 2:00 PM February 2, 2013 at the United Methodist Church in Guide Rock, NE. The Rev. Joel Rathbun will be officiating. Burial with military honors will be held in the Guide Rock Cemetery. Condolences may be sent to the family at wmsfh.com. Williams Funeral Home of Superior, NE is in charge of the arrangements.
