EDWARD P SHEMELYA, 87, of Orlando, Fl died at home. He was the son of George and and Mary Shemelya. Preceded in death by his sister, Helen, surviving are his wife of 56 years, Phyllis Kloecker Shemelya; brother, Michael (Eleanor) of Mesa, AZ; children, John Edward (Reda) of London, Ky; George Michael (Jane) of Windermere, FL; J Alan of Orlando, FL, Mary (Tip) Mitchell of Cullman, AL; grandchildren, Wendi (Bill) Dizney; Jezami (Eric) Long; Shannon and Geoffrey Mitchell; Michael, Daniel, Bradley and Kalea Shemelya and great-grandchildren, Brailey and Brookz Dizney. He was a WWII, decorated veteran who was awarded two Bronze Stars and American Theater Ribbon. He attended Eastern Kentucky University in Richmond, KY, had a passion for teaching & sports, taught at William & Mary and retired from teaching in Florida after 34 years. Funeral Services will be held February l, 2013 at Baldwin Fairchild, Lake Ivanhoe Chapel in Orlando with a Military Honor burial following. Published in the Orlando Sentinel on January 31, 2013.
