Mr. Stephen was a loving and devoted father to his three daughters. He was retired from Inland Steel with 38 years of service. He was a lifelong member of St. Michael Church in Schererville. Mr. Stephen was instrumental in the establishment of Stephen Park for the town of Schererville in 1972, farmland donated by his parents. He will long be remembered for his love of music playing the concertina until the age of 87. The art of playing the "squeeze box" was taught to John by his father, a tradition now continued by his loving nephew, Dan Ball. Battling colon cancer over the past 7 years affected John's body, but never his spirit.
