KENTUCKY STANDARD OBITUARY – 04/19/1989.
Ruth Fowler Edelen, 75, a former resident of Fredericktown, died at 10 a.m. Sunday, April 16, [1989] at Federal Hill Manor Nursing Home. A native of Washington County, she was a daughter of the late Charles A. & Lena Auberry Fowler and was a lunchroom worker for the Washington County Board of Education for a number of years. Survivors include three sons, James I. & Joseph Leroy Edelen, both of Springfield, and Billy Ray Edelen of Bardstown; seven grandchildren; one great-grandchild; two brothers, Ed Fowler of Louisville and Ivo Fowler of Springfield; and two sisters, Mary Grace of Louisville and Sue Fowler of Michigan. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Raymond Edelen in 1946. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 18, at Holy Trinity Church, Fredericktown, of which she was a member. Officiating was the Rev. Larry Hardesty, assisted by the Rev. Pat Warren. Burial was in St. Rose Cemetery. Pallbearers were Kevin Edelen, Craig Edelen, Ben Edelen, Connie Fowler, Jack Goldern and Maurice Edelen Sr. Prayer services were held Monday evening, April 17, at the Hale-Polin-Robinson Funeral Home, which was in charge of arrangements.
