Husband of Bessie Mae Batts. Father of James B. Batts, Aldrich "Alvin" Batts, Kenneth Devon Batts, Robert "Glenn" Batts. Son Of James H. Batts. Brothers: Earl, Roland, Sister, Elizabeth. JB and his family were some of the founders of Surf City, NC, at one point owning most of the land inside what is now the city limits. He and his wife Bessie Mae raised four hard working boys, who all contribute to making Surf City a favorite place to vacation and live. In addition to helping name the town, you will notice coming into Surf City via the Swing Bridge that it is named Roland Ave after JB's brother. Another street is named for JB's Dad, JH Batts Road.
