Bruce Allan Steele, age 68, of Cambridge MD, passed away on Tuesday, May 3, 2011 at Mallard Bay Care Center with his family at his side, after a long and brave battle with cancer.Born August 19, 1942 in Takoma Park, MD to John Winton Steele and his wife Mary Aileen Wilkins.Bruce was the former Treasurer of the Dorchester County Historical Society and served as the Junior Warden and Finance Committee Chairman of the Vestry of Christ Episcopal Church, Cambridge. He was a former member of The Choral Arts Society, Washington DC and a State level soccer referee for many years in the DC metropolitan area.Loving husband of Carole Edmonston Steele and father of Thomas Winton (Pam) of Gaithersburg, MD, Brian Clagett (Laura) of Nantucket MA and Damon Patrick (Erica) of Clarksburg MD. He was the proud grandfather of Megan, Aiden, Colin and Kyle Steele. Bruce is also survived by his sister Margaret and brothers John W., Ronald W., and J. Gregory Steele.A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 10th at Christ Episcopal Church, Cambridge with inurnment to follow in the adjoining church graveyard.In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be considered to either Nantucket STAR, PO Box 3423, Nantucket MA. 02584 or to Christ Episcopal Church Endowment Fund, 601 Church St., Cambridge, MD 21613
