AGAWAM - Amy Arlene Vacirca, 43, passed away unexpectedly at home on January 28, 2013. Born and educated in Springfield, Amy was the daughter of Francis and Althea (Shevock) Vacirca. Amy was a 1987 graduate of Cathedral High School, where she excelled in sports, playing varsity softball and basketball for 4 years. As a member of the softball team at Cathedral, Amy and her teammates were Western Mass. Champions. She received her degree in exercise science and physiology from the University of Massachusetts in 1993, and went on to coach softball. Amy was a member of the Agawam Baptist Church. Besides her parents, Amy is survived by her daughter, best friend, and love of her life whom Amy was so proud of, "Buzz" Georgia Helne Vacirca, her partner Carla Daniele, her "Auntie" Arlene Rea and "Unc" Armand Rea of Agawam, MA, her aunt Michele Guindon of Agawam and her children Pauline, Danielle and Nicole, a cousin "sister"Tricia Althea and her husband Jason Dobis of Eagan, MN, and their children, "Bitsy Boodle" Elizabeth Dobis, "Monkey Man" Jonathan Dobis, & "Boo" Kathryn Dobis. She also leaves a special friend Lauren Lennerton. She was prede-ceased by grandmothers Georgia (Reade) Clark and Helne (Pocquet) Vacirca. Funeral services for Amy will be held Friday, February 1st, 2013 at 10:00 am at the Colonial-Forastiere Funeral Home, 985 Main St., Agawam, MA. Burial will follow in Hillcrest Park Cemetery, Springfield, MA. Family and friends may gather at the funeral home on Thursday, Jan. 31st from 4:00 to 7:00 pm. In addition to flowers, memorial donations may be made to the First Baptist Church, 760 Main St. Agawam, MA 01001.
