Swartsell, Ralph, E., age 86, of Indianapolis, passed away January 5, 2013 at Richard Roudebush VA Medical Center.
He is preceded in death by his sister, Marianna Baker; and his brothers, Robert and Carl Swartsell.
Ralph is survived by his wife, Alice Christine Mitchell Swartsell; daughter, Connie (Gary) Rettig; son, Johnny Swartsell; daughter, Debra (Joel) Sansing; sons, Ralph Swartsell, Mike (Chris) Swartsell, and Tim (Charlotte) Swartsell; five step-children; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Ralph was proud of being a U.S. Marine during WWII, having served at Iwo Jima.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, January 10, 2013 at Indiana Funeral Care and Crematory, Harry W. Moore Chapel, 8151 Allisonville Rd., with calling from 11:00 a.m. until service time. Burial with military honors will follow at Washington Park East Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be directed to the Disabled American Veterans (D.A.V.).
