--He was among 14 children of James H. Deaton & wife Sarah Emmaline Gurley.
--member of Mallard Creek Presbyterian Church for 72 years. He had served as an Elder.
--George was one of the founding members of Mallard Creek Volunteer Fire Dept., serving as Chief for several years.
--Occupation: George had worked at Piedmont Auto Exchange and Genuine Parts, retiring in 1975. He had also always farmed, raising crops, cattle and chickens in retirement.
--George married Grace Brown on June 28, 1930. They were married 66 years. They had 4 children: daughter Willie Mae and sons George Crawford, Carl Edward, and Thomas Leon Deaton. 12 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, 10 great-great grandchildren.
--He lived to age 103.
