Olive was born at Schagticoke, Upper Albany (now Rensselaer) Co., NY, the second daughter of Henry VanDerCook and Anna Francisco. She was baptized at the Schagticoke Reformed Dutch Church. She married her husband, Andrew Weatherwax, 9 September, 1790, probably at the Schagticoke Reformed Dutch Church. (The record was not extant in the 1830s when she filed for and received her Revolutionary War Widow's Pension.) The couple had thirteen children, of which ten lived to reach adulthood. The first ten years of their marriage were spent in Schagticoke. According to a Schenectady Co. historian, the family removed to West Glenville, Schenectady Co. circa 1800. They settled on the property that would thereafter be known as the Weatherwax Family Farm, which is located at the corner of West Glenville and Touareuna Rds. The remains of the old Palatine drystone walled family graveyard can still be seen in the field located on the southeast side of that intersection. The children of Andrew and Olive (VanDerCook) Weatherwax were: Infant Unnamed (1791), Alexander A. (1792-1837), Anna (1793-1822, married Henry Miller), Henry (1795-1803), Jane "Jinny" (1798-1818, married Frederick Cipperly), Cornelia (1800-1832, married her cousin, Gilbert VanDerCook), Sarah Ann "Sally" (1802-1873, married her cousin, Levi L. Francisco), Andrew (1805-1881, married his cousin, Anna Rowland), John (1807-1844, married his cousin, Charity Maria Dayton), Alida/Olive (1809-1890, married Joseph Hall Jackson), Infant Unnamed (1811), Henry VDC (1812-1867, married 1. Mary Etta Wing, 2. Eliza Jane Eddy) and Jane Weatherwax (1818-?, married Martin J. Arnold.)
