A 13 year old area youth was killed about 7:45 p.m. Tuesday when he fell into a bunk feeder auger on his father's farm at Dansville on the Olmsted/Dodge County line.
He was Dale Henry Miller, son of Mr. and Mrs. Darrel Miller, well known New Haven Township farm residents.
A family spokesman said Dale was apparently watching the feed going through the auger when he fell into the device which mechanically spreads feed for cattle. His mother discovered the body in the auger. Dale's father was in Rochester at the time visiting Dale's grandfather, R. B. Miller of Pine Island, who is a patient at St. Marys Hospital.
Dale, a seventh grader at Pine Island School, was born May 5, 1951 in the Zumbrota Hospital. He was active in the New Haven Sod Busters 4-H Club and had exhibited at a number of fairs. He was also active in athletics, playing football and basketball. Dale sang in the Methodist Church youth choir here and was active in the Farmer's Union youth program.
In addition to his parents, Dale is survived by a brother, Bruce; two sisters, Lucinda and Renee, at home; maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Goplen of Zumbrota, and paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. R. B. Miller of Pine Island.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday at the Methodist Church in Pine Island with the Rev. David Achterkirch officiating. Burial will be in the Pine Island Cemetery. Friends may call at the Mahler Funeral Home afternoon on Thurday.
