1900 United States Federal Census enumerated on the 6th of June reported Adam Frakes was age 40, working day labor. He was living in Empire City, Cherokee county, Kansas just north of the town of Galena. Adam and his wife Francis, aged 40 had been married for 17 years. They have 2 daughters, Pearl age 12 and Minnie age 10.

He passed away the last day of May and it was written in the June 1, 1905 the announcement of his funeral.

Officer Sherm Drake was called to Joplin yesterday by the death of his brother-in-law Adam Frakes who married his sister Miss Fannie Drake. Mr. and Mrs. Frakes lived here awhile some nine years ago.
Mr. Frakes death was caused by blood poisoning. He sustained a fracture of the leg below the knee while tending a crusher at the Rabbit Foot mine about three weeks ago. He got along all right until blood poisoning set in. He was then taken to the Joplin Hospital and his leg was cut off at the thigh Tuesday in an effort to save his life. Death resulted next morning at about 7:20 o'clock however. The deceased was about 45 years old.
The deceased is survived by his wife and two grown daughters, Mrs. Jos. Devall of Joplin and Miss Minnie Frakes.
The funeral was held at the Holiness church in Carthage this afternoon at 2 o'clock, conducted by Rev. Mary E. Cheadle and the interment was at Park Cemetery.
