Joseph F. Buschelmann was born on February 15, 1885, in Cincinnati, Ohio. He studied at St. Bernard Seminary at Rochester, New York, and was ordained on June 10, 1911, at St. Patrick Cathedral in Rochester, New York. He sang his first solemn mass at the church of the Immaculate Conception in Botkins, Ohio, on June 18th, 1911. Rev. Buschelmann served as pastor at the following places: Bloomington (July to November 1911), Ettrick, Wisconsin (November 1911 to November 1914), Trempealeau, Wisconsin (November 1914 to December 1920), Tilden (December 1920 to March 1929), Eastman, Wisconsin (March 1929 to June 1934), and St. John's parish in Spring Green, Wisconsin (June 1934 to September 1938). Father Buschelmann died at age 53 on Sunday, September 24, 1938, at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Covington, Kentucky. He had been visiting a niece, Mrs. John Hoerlein in Covington. Several from his parish at St. John's Catholic Church in Spring Green traveled to the funeral services held in Cincinnati, Ohio, on September 28, 1938. Burial was at St. Joseph's Old Cemetery in Cincinnati at the request of the deceased. On October 5, 1938, a Solemn Requiem High Mass was sung at St. John's church in Spring Green by Rt. Rev. Msgr. E. C. O'Reilly, Dean of Baraboo, assisted by Fr. Lawrence Philip Strofer as deacon, and Fr. Andrew Kammer as sub-deacon. The subject of Rev. Strofer's sermon was "Desire for Happiness is Fulfilled in Our Union with God." Bio by 46865269.
