Born on May 20, 1924, in Pen Argyl, he was the son of the late Frank and Ellen (Shirley) Tinney.
He was a graduate of Stevens Elementary School, Lancaster, and Pen Argyl High School.
A cabinet maker, he worked for Edinger Wyckoff, Stroudsburg, and for many years he owned and operated his own business, The Heritage Shop, Stroudsburg.
He was a member of the Stroud Township Volunteer Fire Department for 42 years. He was also a member of George Kemp American Legion, East Stroudsburg, and Barger Lodge 325 F&A.M., Stroudsburg.
A veteran of World War II, he was a member of the U.S. Navy Armed Guard.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Gary P. Tinney and his wife, Beverly, of Minnesota, and Ronald J. Tinney and his wife, Amy, of Stroudsburg; two grandsons, Drew and Charles; four granddaughters, Meredith, Rachel, Bridget, and Karen; and one brother, James R. Tinney and his wife, Dena, of Pen Argyl.
