Mrs. Margaret Lee Abels Thompson, age 82, a resident of Rockwood, TN passed away Saturday, February 2, 2013 in the Roane Medical Center, Harriman, TN. She was born June 28, 1930 in Roane County, TN to Robert Franklin Abels and Nancy Mae Hixon Abels. Mrs. Thompson was a member of the Gateway Baptist Church in Rockwood and was retired from the Roane County School Systems where she was employed in the Dietary Department at Rockwood High School. She had also previously worked in the Cafeteria at the former Chamberlain Memorial Hospital in Rockwood for several years. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond E. "Jo Buggy" Thompson; son, Lerry "Chunky" Thompson; brothers and sisters, Howard Abels, Ada Boles-Newman, Marvin "Tank" Abels, Carl Abels, Allen "Boots Abels, and Kenneth Abels.

The family will receive friends, Monday, February 4, 2013 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Evans Mortuary. Funeral services will follow on Monday, February 4, 2013 at 8:00 p.m. from the Chapel of Evans Mortuary. Graveside services and interment will be held Tuesday, February 5, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. in the Oak Grove Cemetery in Rockwood. Memorial contributions may be made to the Gateway Baptist Church or to the American Heart Association.
