Edward Elmer Simons of Junction City died Nov. 19 of age-related causes. He was 81. A private memorial service will be held Dec. 11.

He was born Oct. 4, 1930, in Eugene to Elmer and Mabel Ball Simons. He married Mary Jane Erno on Dec. 17, 1955, in Eugene. They later divorced, and she died previously. He married Dorothy Lake on Feb. 23, 1973, in Reno, Nev. They later divorced, and she died previously.

He graduated from Junction City High School. He served in the Army during the Korean war. He worked as a professional fishing guide for more than 40 years, was a heavy equipment mechanic and raised red angus cattle.

Survivors include five sons, Michael Simons of Ohio, Richard Simons of Elmira, Robert Simons of Creswell, Scott Thomas of Eugene and Jeff Thomas of Gilbert, Ariz.; a daughter, Leah Asay of Eugene; a brother, Keith of Harrisburg; 17 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. A daughter, Dawn Simons, died previously.
