Raymond E. (Jo Buggy) Thompson, 68, of Rockwood, died Tuesday, September 22 at Roane Medical Center.

He was a crane operator with Roane Electric Furnace with 28 years service, attended Gateway Baptist Church and was member of the Knights of Pythias.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry M. and Lena Aikens Thompson; seven brothers, Creed James, Henry Jr., Gene, Ralph, Bobby and Hugh Thompson, and one sister, Lucille Bowlen.

He is survived by his wife, Lee Thompson of Rockwood; three sons and daughters-in-law, Lerry and Patty Thompson, Terry and Deborah Thompson, and Dennis and Nancy Thompson, all of Rockwood, a daughter and son-in-law, Phyllis and Gery Plemons, of Rockwood; 11 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; two sisters, Margaret King of Nashville, and Ruth Smith of Lima, Ohio; and special friends, Bobby and Mary Jane Carmichael of Rockwood.

The family received friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 24, at Evans Mortuary.

Funeral services were 8 p.m. Thursday, Sep 24, in Evans Mortuary with the Revs, Bobby Carmichael and Bill Stone officiating.

Burial was 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 25, in Oak Grove Cemetery.
