Albert Charles Grunow, M.D., 87, of TINTON FALLS Albert Charles Grunow, M.D., 87, of TINTON FALLS, died Thursday, Feb. 7, after a long illness. His only son, Stony Grunow, and his ex-wife, Vera Smith, were with him when he died. Albert was born in Philadelphia and grew up in Pleasantville, during the Great Depression. He graduated from Muhlenberg College, Pennsylvania and later the University of Pennsylvania Medical School. He used his medical skills as an Army field doctor during the Korean War. Most of his professional life was as a medical executive with Prudential Insurance Co., Newark. The greatest joy of his life was his only son.
He is also survived by two sisters, Verna Grunow and Emma Plauka, both of Virginia; and two nieces, Gail Plauka and Jody Schoen and their families in Virginia and California.
There was a private cremation. A memorial ceremony and scattering of ashes will take place later in the spring.
